Bring Displays Menubar Item Back To Mountain Lion [OS X Tips]
Rob LeFebvre (6:00 am PDT, Sep 18th)

Before the Display preferences were available in the menu bar in OS X, connecting my Mac to an LCD projector was a tedious thing. When it arrived a few OS X versions ago, I showed everyone I worked with how much easier it was to use this, instead of hopping into the System Preferences every time they hooked their Mac up to an external monitor or projector. Then OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion came along and replaced the Displays menubar item with an AirPlay focused one, and I’ve missed the original ever since.
The developers behind third-party app, Display Menu, thought the same thing and fixed things for us all.

With Display Menu, the developers want you to be able to:
Quickly check for available resolutions, refresh rates, or retina capability on any of your internal or externally connected displays and projectors. Switch between aspect ratios or turn on mirroring with a single click. It’s that easy.

Head on over to the Mac App Store and download Display Menu. It’s free.

Once installed, launch it from the LaunchPad or the Applications folder, and a cute little menubar item will show up, looking a lot like the previous Apple menubar Display item. As you can see in the screenshot at the top of this post, you can access all of your connected displays–I have a MacBook Air connected to a big Acer display–and turn mirroring off and on.

Click on the Display Menu menubar item and choose Start on Login to make sure this shows up whenever you start your Mac. And be sure to choose the Recommend option as well, to let all your online friends know about this useful, free app.

This worked for me -
change: "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll" to 'true'

Sorry - should have been clearer.
Type "about:config" in the address bar and that takes you to settings.
I usually cut n paste the term to the 'Filter' once I'm in config rather than scroll through to find.
Then double click the entry and it'll change from 'false' to 'true.
Close FF and then re-open for the setting to take effect.
Best of luck, let us know if it works for you too.

I have windows 7 ult. 64 and firefox 4 would load pages so slow it was a waist. I found out that it was shockwave flash player. Well I uninstalled it and then tried Adobe square which is for 64b and it doesn't work. I can no longer watch and You Tub videos. BUT............... FireFox is now faster.

Damn, I did what you said and I don't have that in my settings. This is what I have.
"dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.np64stub.dll;false"

Ouch !!!
Sorry, this is the only answer I have :(
You could try changing that setting and see if it resolves. If not, it's simple enough to change it back.
Other than that I'm afraid it's back to the drawing board.
For what it's worth I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate X64

Ok. Well I did more looking around the web since I can now watch the you tube videos. But I do have a problem with some sites that it still doesn't work. I guess we still have to wait for a patch or something so that all flash sites will work. It just sucks right now that not all work with FireFox 4 but they did with the older FireFox. I guess I could change back to the older one but I really like the look of 4.

@dougcoull - your solution of...
Type "about:config" in the address bar and that takes you to settings. change: "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled.npswf32.dll" to 'true' worked for me a treat.
Restarted my browser and hey presto - thank you.

Doug, after months of searching for an answer, I've finally found one that works. No more having to open Chrome every time I see a Vimeo vid on Reddit. Thank you!
Edit: I'm using Fx 5, FYI.

New Vimeo.com Not Working with Firefox 13 on Vimeo

I had firefox 12 and videos here were not playing. I was able to watch video with original version of the vimeo site but can't with new vimeo site. I upgraded to Firefox 13 and still not able to get videos here to play. There is a screen shot of the video but I can't click play. I'm able to watch vimeo videos that are embedded on other sites (such as the vimeo facebook and tumblr pages) but not here at vimeo.com.
I'm also not able to start a new topic here in the help section using firefox. Some kind of java problem: "javascript:void(0)" (I'm currently using safari to post this but I would prefer using firefox) Java is working fine on all other sites though.

I don't have flash blocker (checked repeatedly), java is enabled, cleared cache & cookies, all plug ins are updated, and my firefox about:config "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled" is set to true (which was a fix in older version of firefox), restarted, etc etc.

Any help?

Please try disabling all plug-ins and add-ons.

Same here - even updated to FF 14 beta - still nothing plays on Vimeo. All plugins are up to date. The videos were playing fine 2 days ago. I'm tempted to take all my vids off Vimeo and put them on Youtube as all my vids are linked from my website.

Sorry for the trouble! There is an issue with the new Firefox versions and Flash 11. As a temporary fix, you can downgrade to Flash 10.3 in the mean time while we work on this.

Im less concerned with my own ability to view and more concerned with others. i use vimeo for professional purposes and have no control over colleagues who have updated to firefox and are having troubles viewing. will there be an inevitable solution to this on horizon?

This will most likely be fixed with subsequent updates of Firefox and/or Flash player. Since they update frequently it should be resolved soon.

Sorry about that! Firefox 14 is working for us on this end. Please try updating your Flash player also.

Thanks for fast response. I am using latest version of Flash currently avaliable on my platform - 11.2.202.236 (Linux). I guess there is a bug somewhere between Firefox and that particular Flash version, because on Opera everything works fine. I will wait for FF or Flash update then.

Sounds good. Sorry for the inconvenience.
